For some reason, in this society – eating healthy is just almost too expensive. It’s amazing how you can go to the supermarket and find that the most expensive items are in the produce section!

The food that should be expensive [fast food], actually turns out to be the cheaper solution! One thing remains true – fast food is by no means healthy. It can be, but 95% of the time; your putting harmful substances in your body.

One of the greatest things to do is to make sure that you get quality fruits and vegetables at a great price. By doing this, you can ensure that you’ll have healthy snacks just in case you get those “cravings”. You want to search around and find out which ones are the cheapest.

Just try to avoid “not buying” fruits because of price – fruits and vegetables are a great way to eat healthy, lose weight, or even maintain weight.

You’ve got to cook meals at home using some key ingredients from grocery stores that you need to start picking up. For example – if you grab a drink at a coffee shop or starbucks in the morning, and get a crappy fast food meal on the way to, or back from work, you’ll already save 300 dollars (and your health) by switching it up. Here are they key ingredients you need to work it:

  • Beans (canned, any variety you enjoy)
  • Eggs
  • Bread
  • Tomato sauce (pasta sauce, jarred or canned)
  • Pasta
  • Oil (olive oil or canola oil)
  • Basic spices, such as salt, pepper, oregano, basil, etc
  • Vegetables that are ON SALE, such as potatoes, onions, peppers, etc
  • Meat (beef, chicken breasts, drumsticks, thighs, etc, fish) that are ON SALE

You’ll need to wake up 10 minutes earlier to make breakfast – but the money you’ll save adds up to a few DAYS of work per month. Here are some basics you can make with eggs: hard-boiled (almost no effort), scrambled, over-easy, fried, poached, omelet (using any variety of veggies).

Pop in some toast, and you have a solid and healthy breakfast costing about 50 cents. If you make a bad processed microwave or oven-ready breakfast, or grab something on the way to work, in addition to Starbucks or some other coffee chain, you’ll already save 300 per month just on one meal of the day by switching it up.

Going on vacation comes with a big price. Not only must you spend money on hotel accommodations, airfare travel, and a rental car and gas you must also spend a good chunk of money on food. Here are some tips to help you eat cheap while on vacation and allow you to splurge on extra activities or nicer meals such as dinner.

You need to maximize your hotel facility. Most hotel rooms come complete with a mini fridge or bar. The mini fridge is great for storing and cooling bottled water that you can use for meals or for your on-the-go needs. Buy a 24 pack of bottled waters from a local grocery store or Costco if one is available and pile the bottles into your refrigerator in your room.

Opt to eat a meal in one night. Have a pizza delivered to your hotel room and you can save as much as $30-$50.00. if pizza isn’t exactly the thing you crave then you could make another stop at the local grocery store and pick up a whole roasted chicken, some paper plates and a side or two from the deli section like macaroni and cheese or prepackaged ready-to-eat salad kits.

Use some or all of these tips and you will be sure to eat cheap while on vacation.
